The people of Gaza who cannot leave the coastal enclave due to the years-long blockade imposed by the Zionist regime can now take the tours and virtually visit various places in Palestine.
They include the holy city of al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to Al-Arabi al-Jadid.
The young Palestinian entrepreneurs have launched a startup named PAL VR.
It uses virtual reality (VR) to to create new interactive experiences for Palestinians and connect them.
Saji Abu Dalal, the co-founder of Pal VR, began the project by connecting the old part of al-Quds to the old part of Gaza City.
The aim was to help Palestinians in Gaza tour the holy city and those in al-Quds tour Gaza without having to face the restrictions imposed by the occupation regime and go through Israeli checkpoints.
Abu Dalal and her team took 360 photos of the holy places, tourism sites and archeological sites and enhanced the photos with VR technology.
Assam al-Ashhab, one of the team’s members, says with this project, the people of Gaza conquered the blockade.
The team plans to extend the project to include other sites to enable all Palestinians, including refugees living in other countries,
Gaza, home to some two million Palestinians, has been under Israeli siege since June 2007.
The tight blockade has caused a decline in the standards of living as well as unprecedented levels of unemployment and unrelenting poverty.
